Genuity® VT Double PRO™ hybrids now available as refuge-in-the-bag products for 2012
(WINNIPEG, MB – October 21, 2011) – With the recent Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) approval for Genuity® VT Double PRO™ RIB Complete™ as a single bag refuge solution for corn, DEKALB brand seed is expanding its Genuity® RIB Complete™ product offering for 2012 planting. All 6 DEKALB® Genuity® VT Double PRO™ hybrids approved for 2012 planting will be available with the RIB Complete™ option.
"Current Genuity® RIB Complete™ hybrids have the added convenience of 5% refuge built into every bag," says Mark Kerry, DEKALB Area Sales Manager. "That means no more planting a separate, structured refuge and automatic refuge compliance." Genuity® VT Double PRO™ RIB Complete™ corn hybrids join Genuity® SmartStax® RIB Complete™ corn hybrids as the second technology in the Genuity® family of corn trait technologies to be approved as a single bag refuge solution in corn.
The recent regulatory approval brings the total number of Genuity® RIB Complete™ hybrids to 21 which are now available from DEKALB brand seed for planting in 2012. In addition to the 6 DEKALB® Genuity® VT Double PRO™ RIB Complete™ hybrids, which range from 2200 CHU to 2975 CHU, there are 15 DEKALB® Genuity® SmartStax® RIB Complete™ hybrids ranging from 2575 CHU to 3325 CHU.
The Genuity® VT Double PRO™ RIB Complete™ corn products are a 95/5 blend of Genuity® VT Double PRO™ corn seed and refuge corn seed. "The use of these products with the seed blend means that farmers can plant the most insect protected acres possible to maximize yield potential on their farm," says Kerry.
With dual modes-of-action for above-ground protection and control of primary pests including European corn borer, corn earworm and fall armyworm, DEKALB® Genuity® VT Double PRO™ RIB Complete™ hybrids offer the broadest protection available from „double stack‟ technologies.
As with all DEKALB brand Genuity® RIB Complete™ products, the new DEKALB® Genuity® VT Double PRO™ RIB Complete™ corn hybrids will be recognized with a „RIB‟ extension at the end of the hybrid name (e.g. DKC26-28RIB, DKC38-03RIB, DKC50-78RIB, etc.).
