Summer Students Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I submit my resume?
To apply for a position, please visit monsanto.com/careers where you can create a profile, complete an on-line application, and set up alerts for jobs that meet your interests.

I don’t see a position that I’m interested in at this time, but I know that I want to work for Monsanto. What do I do?
Please set up a profile and set up alerts for jobs that meet your interests. Also, please continue to visit our site for future openings.

Why doesn’t the system recognize my username and password?
In late 2009 and early 2010 (dependent on your geographical region), we implemented a new global online recruitment system that will enhance your ability to seek career opportunities at Monsanto. All profiles from the previous system are searchable by our recruiters, but you will need to create a new profile to apply for a position.

If you have used the Taleo system for another company, your profile will not automatically transfer to Monsanto and you will need to create a new profile.

How can I unlock my account?
When the system locks your account, an email is sent to you. If you have not received the email, please check your junk mail and spam filters. If you still have not received the email, please email global.talent.acquisition@monsanto.com with “Account Locked” in the subject of your message.

How can I update my email address or other contact information?
Log onto your account to update your e-mail address and any other information.

Why can’t I upload my resume?
Your resume must be under 100 kb and one of the supported file types listed. If you continue to have problems, please ensure that your resume does not contain any java script as our system will block these files from being loaded. The system may suspect that there is a virus within the file when it contains java script. Java script may be contained within hyperlinks; therefore we also suggest removing any hyperlinks within your document.

Can I just send you my resume?
No. All resumes need to be attached to your online application. If you are unable to upload your resume, you will need to copy and paste it into the application.

Why can’t I upload all of my documents?
There is also a limit to the number of documents you can upload. If additional files (transcripts, letters of recommendation, etc.) are needed, the recruiter will contact you.

How do I update my resume?
To update your resume, you will need to upload your resume with the same file name and extension to replace the existing document.

Why do I receive error messages when I try to move to the next step?
Make sure that you have entered all of the required information. You may need to scroll with multiple bars within the window in order to see the entire page. Also, be sure that you use only the navigation within the system and avoid the back/forward/refresh from your internet browser. If you are still having problems, clear your cache (cookies, internet history). If you continue to see the same error message, please document the steps you had taken and copy and paste the error message into an email message to global.talent.acquisition@monsanto.com with “Error Help” in the subject of your message.

I started an application, but had to leave my computer and the application closed. What do I do?
Go to “My Jobpage” and look for your draft of the application. If the position is still posted, click the View/Edit My Submission link. If this option is not available, we are no longer accepting applications for this position.

What is the status of my application?
Because Monsanto has recruiters working on numerous openings at a time, it is not possible to provide you direct contact information. When a recruiter or hiring manager would like to discuss a position with you or set up next steps, they will contact you directly. This is why it is important to keep your profile up to date in our database and you can accomplish this by logging in and editing your personal information.

It can take weeks to months for a position to be filled and we appreciate your patience.

If I want to apply for more than one job, do I have to fill out a new application every time?
Yes. The information you have already entered is saved, but you need to verify the accuracy of the data.

I received an email offering me a job and requesting additional information?
Unless you have received a verbal offer from the hiring manager or recruiter that you interviewed with, it is likely that your e-mail was from an individual misrepresenting himself/herself as a Monsanto employee. This e-mail solicitation DID NOT come from Monsanto, and was sent with neither our knowledge nor our approval. Please forward the email you received to global.talent.acquisition@monsanto.com with “E-Mail Offer” in the subject line. Your e-mail will provide us with a timely heads-up with which to investigate this scam. If you have received any correspondence regarding this matter through the U.S. Mail – for example, a check – contact the United States Postal Inspection Service at 1-877-876-2455. Do not cash the check. If you are interested in pursuing a career with Monsanto, please visit Monsanto.com/careers. There, you’ll find information about our company and what opportunities are available in your area. We thank you again for helping us to research this issue and wish you the best of luck in your job search.
